12-Feb.-09  5 Dams completed in villages around Akola.

29-Dec.-08  Travis Gagosian, 26, will leave Jan.12, 2009 US to work with VHF in Akola. Travis plans to spend a year working on many of the Foundation's projects. More to come...

26-Dec.-08 Second Rotary-funded dam completed in village Gaunapur. Dams 3 and 4 are to be completed by year-end.
 
 20-Dec.-08 Village Gaunapur to be fully equipped with sanitary facilities for all homes. 75 toilets are to be built by end of January 2009.
 
24-Oct.-08 VHF Annual Fund-raising Dinner and Auction concluded successfully on Oct.18. Funds were raised for expansion of Kalakaar, funding for schools program and for new initiatives.
 
01-Sept-08 VHF receives a grant from Rotary Club of Mercer Is., Washington for building sanitation facilities in a village. A total of 50 are to be built.
 
18-August-08 VHF places an order of 5,000 trees, all 6-feet or taller, to be planted along streets of the city in monsoon, 2009. Also, see project GROW on navigation bar on left.

23 July-08 VHF to sponsor an American Teacher to visit Akola Teachers Center to interact with local teachers and bring excitement and new ideas on education.
 
25-June-08 VHF grants awards to schools for music programs. Two schools have been awarded. More may be awarded after qualification of music teachers.
 
25-June-08 VHF grants computers to schools. In an economical plan, VHF has selected the ncomputes solution (www.ncomputing.com) which equips 7 user stations for the price of about 2 PC's.
 
25-June-08 VHF builds the first of 22 dams in Akola's village, Gaunapur. The dams are a Rotary to Rotary funded project, with VHF providing on-the-ground technical and administrative support. For more, click here.
 
22-June-08 VHF has trained 42 young persons as wood workers (carpenters) at the Kalakaar Institute since operations began in August 2006. All are employed. A batch of 40 is now receiving training.
